GPSO RESEARCH AWARDS

Applications for the 2011-2012 Research Awards are no longer being accepted. Please check back in the spring 2013 semester for the 2012-2013 Research Awards nomination form.

General Information

The GPSO research award is offered through a competitive process for graduate and professional students at Indiana University-Bloomington. It is given to help support research expenses incurred in connection with academic research, such as travel costs related to field, archival or laboratories research, payment for research related services, and purchase of research related supplies. Expenses that are not supported are typing and duplicating of dissertations, normal living expenses, and travel costs for conferences or workshops.

Consideration for Spring 2012 Research Awards was given for research conducted during summer 2012, fall 2012, and spring 2013.

Research awards are offered in spring semester only.

GPSO Research Awards are merit-based awards. Other funding sources will not be considered as part of the application.

    Review Process

Winners are determined by an double-blind, competitive peer review process. Applicants should note that their applications may not be read by an expert in their fields. Award applications should be written with a general academic audience in mind.

    Serving on the Awards Committee

Note: Because all of the 2011-2012 awards deadlines have passed, we are no longer accepting volunteers for the GPSO Awards Committee. Please check back in fall 2012 to apply for the next academic year.

This committee organizes and awards several different funding awards throughout the year, including Travel and Research Awards. The Awards Committee also sends representatives to research-related university committees.

To be eligible for this committee, you must be a graduate or professional student at Indiana University-Bloomington in the Spring 2012 semester. You also can not be applying for a Spring 2012 GPSO Travel or Research Award. By submitting this application, you certify that you meet these criteria.

This application is not an entry into a competitive selection process; all IUB graduate and professional students are welcome to join the committee and review award applications. This application primarily helps the chair of this committee remain organized.

In the spring semester, the Awards Committee reviews applications for Travel Awards and Research Awards. Spring Travel Award applications are due on February 19, 2012. Research Award applications are due on March 11, 2012. Reviews will be due from reviewers about a week-and-a-half afterward each award deadline. Finally, it typically takes only a few hours for each reviewer to review his or her set of applications for each award.
