December Resolutions

GPSO’s December Assembly passed a resolution urging Indiana University to immediately cease any new investments in fossil fuel companies or in commingled assets that include holdings in fossil fuel companies.

Full copies of each resolution are available on the Resolutions homepage.

Fossil Fuel and Carbon Neutrality

Currently, the Indiana University-Bloomington (IUB) Energy Master Plan expresses interest in “improving the campus grounds, facilities, infrastructure and planning for growth guided by sustainable planning principles,” including moving toward a “carbon‐neutral campus”.  This resolution notes that students at more than three hundred colleges and universities in the U.S. have already launched campaigns to divest their institutions from fossil fuel companies.  The GPSO requests quarterly public updates from the President, Board of Trustees, and IU Foundation detailing progress made toward the goal of carbon neutrality.
