As former BGSA President, Ciara founded the Diversity Initiative at Indiana University. One of her most influential contributions to the unification of university and Bloomington communities is the organization and hosting of poetry slams, which are consistently the best attended poetry events in Bloomington. Through these, she also helped fundraise for the IU Poetry Slam Team to complete at the 2014 national college slam. This summer, Ciara will participate in a service and engagement project via Growth International Volunteer Excursions in Tanzania.
