April Resolution: Inclusive Student Body

In their April Assembly meeting, the elected student representatives of the Indiana University – Bloomington Graduate and Professional Student Organization (GPSO) passed a resolution urging Indiana University to strengthen student inclusion efforts and develop new, proactive strategies for creating a campus that values inclusion and diversity.

GPSO suggests such methods as more actively building awareness for mechanisms already in place for anonymous reporting, releasing biannual bias incident summaries, more closely monitoring diversity initiatives related both to these offenses and negative patterns of campus behavior, and developing mandatory diversity inclusion training for all IU students, faculty and staff.  This would involve working closely with the IU organizations of Diversity, Equity, and Multicultural Affairs (DEMA) and the Office of Diversity Education.

For more information, a full copy of the resolution is available on the GPSO Resolutions homepage.
